CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FLYING WALLENDAS FOR WINNING GAME 2 WITH A NEW RECORD (528 PTS)

When:The first time we did this was so much fun, we have to do it again! We'll let yo know when!

Where: New Urban Arts, 743 Westminster Street, Providence (there will be plenty of on-street parking available.)

Why: We think you should pay us to punish yourselves by trying to come up with difficult, high-scoring words rather than spend a relaxing Saturday afternoon at home.

In the meantime, you support nationally recognized arts mentoring programs for Providence public high school students and emerging artists. All the proceeds from the Community Scrabble Tournament directly benefit our programs by purchasing much needed arts materials and supplies.

How else do you expect us to do this? With donated junk?

(In all seriousness, we really do appreciate receiving your junk. We can turn your junk into beauty. If you don't believe us, go to our exhibit up at Providence City Hall!)

What is “Community Scrabble?” There will be 2 Scrabble games played during the tournament.  There are 10 teams in the tournament, each team has 4 people, and each team plays 1 Scrabble board.  The team who scores the highest at the end of each 75 minute game wins. 

The first place team wins $100.

You could think long and hard about giving this huge cash prize back to New Urban Arts. Come on... arts education for kids is important! Think about it, how many points is the word "junk" worth?

How do I (we) register?
New Urban Arts will accept the first 10 team registrations. The entry fee is $100 per team and each team must consist of 4 people.

Please email your team name (be creative, please), the name of your team captain, and the names of the three remaining teammates to info@newurbanarts.org.

You will receive a Paypal invoice in your email inbox. Please follow the instructions. Your team's spot will be reserved for 48 hours once the invoice email is sent, so cough up the dough fast!

What else do I need to know?
New Urban Arts will supply Scrabble games, generously donated by Hasbro.  Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.
