Conversations on Creative Practice
New Urban Arts believes life is more meaningful and communities are stronger when we engage in dialogue around creativity, the imagination, and the work we do. The Conversations on Creative Practice are public forums where we invite individuals to share how they integrate creativity into their personal and professional lives. Conversationalists range in their practices from gardening, to writing, and from performance, to painting. This project is made possible through generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Rhode Island Foundation and the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts

SOUND SHRINE: A COLLECTIVE WISH LIST
Through shrines, we can concentrate our energies and intentions. One way
to do this is to speak aloud our intentions or wishes. During our Annual
Summer Art Inquiry, high school students collected wishes on mini-disc
and cassette by interviewing people of all ages in the West End and
downtown areas of Providence as well as in New Urban Arts studio. Our
students also added their own audio wishes, sharing their deepest dreams
and desires.
We recommend that you subscribe to our podcast, so that you can download
the audio wish collective to your mp3 player and enjoy the cacophony of
voices. But, if you want to listen to it through your web browswer, click here.
For more information about our annual Summer Art Inquiry click here. This project was generously supported with major funding from the Rhode
Island Council for the Humanities and the Rhode Island State Council on
the Arts.
